The Serenity Spa at Seaham Hall Wins Professional Beauty Award
Posted on 22/06/2009
The Serenity Spa at Seaham Hall picked up the prize for Residential Spa of the Year (11 rooms or more) at this weeks Professional Beauty Awards, held in the Platinum Suite of ExCeL, London.
The best of the beauty industry were recognised with a coveted Professional Beauty Award at the glamorous awards held in London on Monday 2 March 2009.
The Professional Beauty Awards are the most prestigious awards for the beauty, nails and spa industries, recognising those who make a real difference to the beauty industry and to encourage their development.
Four new categories were introduced to this year’s awards to reflect the ever growing broader spectrum of the beauty industry – Make-up Specialist of the Year; Day Spa/City Spa of the Year; Residential Spa of the Year (11 rooms or more); and a special Outstanding Contribution to the Industry awards, recognising an individual who has raised standards and pioneered the industry.
Shortlisted salons and spas were visited and interviewed by a member of the editorial team. All of them were also mystery shopped. The reports from both visits were sent to our judging panel, who then reconvened to make their decisions.
In the Therapist, Nail Professional and Make-up Specialist of the Year categories, the finalists were invited into Emap’s offices for trade tests in timed conditions, while the judges – all renowned experts in those fields – watched their every move and interviewed them afterwards.
And in the supplier categories, we asked suppliers that entered to provide us with a list of their stockists. We asked that list to score their supplier on a number of criteria. It is their own stockists' scores and their scores alone that determined who made it into the shortlist, and who triumphed at the awards last night.
The Awards proved to be a fantastic night, bringing together hundreds of beauty professionals to honour those who have performed outstandingly over the last year. Comedian Jason Manford hosted the ceremony and guests enjoyed the post awards disco until the early hours.
Jenni Middleton, editor of Professional Beauty magazine commented: “From individual nail professionals to large residential spas, the Professional Beauty Awards celebrate the very best in our industry. I was overwhelmed at the volume and calibre of entries and am thrilled to be rewarding such worthy winners.''
Big winners on the night included Nailistics, Dermalogica and Skin and Tonic. The Outstanding Contribution to the Industry award went to the well deserved, Warrick Burton. The full list of winners is detailed below.
