Serenity Spa Scoops Training Award at this years British Spa and Beauty Awards
The Serenity Spa at Seaham Hall picked up the prize for Training award at this year’s British Spa and Beauty awards held last night in London.

The sumptuous surroundings of London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel played host to the most committed, motivated and talented beauty professionals at the British Beauty and Spa awards 2009.

The 13th annual awards were an evening of glitz and glamour hosted by GMTV’s Entertainment today roving reporter Michael Underwood and health and Beauty Salon Publisher and Editor in Chief Jayne Lewis-Orr.

With a room packed full of excited professionals from the beauty industry, product manufacturers and spa owners, everyone was hoping to be recognised with a much coveted Award.

Shortlisted salons and spas were visited and interviewed by a member of the editorial team. All of them were also mystery shopped. The reports from both visits were sent to our judging panel, who then reconvened to make their decisions.

Serenity Spa at Seaham Hall were shortlisted in 6 categories – Body Therapist of the year, Facial Therapist of the year, Salon director of the year, Retail Salon of the year, Residential Spa of the year and Training Award.

With 5 finalists in the Training Award category, Serenity Spa at Seaham Hall were competing with The Spa at Gleneagles, SenSpa at Careys Manor, Epitome, Taizen Skin Therapy Centre and The Haven on the Loch and were delighted when it was announced that they were the winners of this prestigious award.

“This year has undoubtedly presented some huge challenges for businesses across every sector, and the professional beauty industry has been affected by this dramatic downturn in the economy. However, what is hugely encouraging is the level of entries received this year and most importantly, quality that is surpassed. Businesses that are being well run, without doubt, survive the recession and the finalists and winners tonight are proof of that and should be congratulated”
- Jayne Lewis-Orr (Publisher/Editor-in-Chief – health and Beauty Salon)
