Seaham Hall wins gold at this year’s VisitEngland Awards
After a succession of award wins over the past few months, we’re absolutely thrilled to have picked up another at the prestigious VisitEngland Awards.
With applications submitted from across the country and a rigorous judging process, picking up one of these trophies is no easy feat, but Seaham Hall has brought home the Gold award for Small Hotel of the Year.
Celebrating the best of English hospitality
The VisitEngland Awards for Excellence are designed to shine a spotlight on the best of the best in English hospitality, and only the finest businesses get to take home the “most coveted accolade in English tourism.” Whilst categories span restaurants, museums and pubs, it was of course the Small Hotel of the Year category that we were most excited about.
The small hotel of the year category celebrates small (or boutique) venues such as ourselves offering exceptional quality and service within the field. This type of award helps guests find special places where hosts go the extra mile, whatever the size, style or star rating of the hotel.
"We are absolutely thrilled to have been recognised for this prestigious accolade in the VisitEngland Awards. It is truly an honour and one very much shared with the entire team at Seaham Hall. We are very grateful for the team's passion and ongoing commitment; our fantastic, very loyal guests are also a huge driver in terms of our success”, said Ross Grieve, our Managing Director.
“Seaham Hall is very much a destination in its own right, and we proudly champion the region, promoting the beautiful heritage coastline, the city of Durham and the many reasons to visit and spend some time in the North East of England to our guests who travel to us from all over the country.”
What is a VisitEngland Gold Award?
Winners in each category are split into two tiers - Gold and Silver winners. The Gold Award is given to the establishment that outperforms within its own category, and offers outstanding service within its star rating.
So what exactly makes Seaham Hall gold standard? The combination of our hotel’s long and rich history, plus our ability to adapt and evolve, results in “a contemporary interior and eccentric character.” It’s no secret that the past couple of years have been tough for the hotel industry - we’re delighted that our hard work and determination to continue delivering an exceptional guest experience has been recognised.
We’re incredibly proud to be named among the country’s best places to sleep, eat and visit in 2022, and couldn’t wait to bring the trophy back to Seaham and celebrate with the whole team and a glass of fizz.
