Wedding planning:
Tell us about your menu tasting, show arounds, planning meetings?
The menu tasting was definitely one of our favourite parts. To try and taste the different options available was great. All our meetings with the team were fantastic, they had every answer to the questions we asked straight away and made us feel as ease form the start.
What wedding menu did you choose?
For our wedding we choose a starter of a root vegetable and thyme soup. With a main course of Corn fed chicken, green beans, glazed chantenay carrots, fondant potato with tarragon sauce. Followed by an amazing dessert of sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream.
Who was in charge of planning, you or the groom/joint effort?
It was mainly me in charge of planning. However, on many joint decisions it was definitely a case of joint planning. When things were starting to get on top of me with planning, I definitely roped my mam and sister in to help!
Did you ever feel overwhelmed with planning?
No, we have great family who were on hand to help us plan and prepare when we were starting to feel overwhelmed
What did you do the day before your wedding?
We had a nice easy day the day before our big day. We had my sister and mam help us to Seaham hall with all our wedding things. We dropped everything off, the staff were amazing and couldn’t help enough when we were discussing everything we had. We dropped other bits and pieces off during the day then spent the night.. separate with our parents.
Making Your Wedding Different:
Were there any special elements that you definitely wanted to include in your big day?
As we are both the youngest in our families we knew we wanted everyone there – including the children of our relatives! It was amazing to watch them have such a good day and enjoy each other’s company and make new friends.
Was there anything extra special or unusual about your wedding?
For us, the whole day was extra special. It’s not a normal day so we enjoyed and embraced every minute.
What were the standout moments for you both?
For both of us it, involved walking down the aisle. For Michael is was seeing myself and, in his words, thinking ‘wow’ and for me it was seeing him standing there watching me knowing we were about to take the next step in our relationship. I was would also say for me seeing the ballroom before everyone entered and just admiring how it matched exactly what we wanted.
Tell us about your wedding photos and which are your favourite and why?
We love all our photos but definitely stand out ones are ones which include are family. However, there is one photo of myself stood on the sitars outside Seaham hall with the main building in the background. There is another photo of us leaving the church where Michael did a spontaneous air punch and Fyzal caught it on camera, that’s definitely another favourite.
